About This Project

As the center of the new West Campus Redevelopment, West Campus Dining Commons can accommodate 1,300 diners on the University of Tennessee campus. The 81,700 sq ft facility features the latest in fresh exhibition cooking in 12 new venues, including a scratch bakery, a late night venue, and a campus convenience store. Chick-fil-a has a location on the ground level fronting the commons, where a pedestrian promenade is developed from Andy Holt Avenue.

The building is comprised of steel frames with concrete floors on composite metal deck. Steel moment frames provide lateral resistance with 3′-0″-thick concrete basement walls holding 30′ of earth. A loading dock is constructed of 8″ SOG on east side of building. The roof is steel framed with a monoslope pitch. Large, light gauge trusses are constructed on the east side of the roof to hide rooftop equipment. There is an exposed steel frame in the west wing that utilizes long span roof deck with a decorative wood panel finish exposed below.
